Utah Beach
The beach of the Madeleine, universally known today under its codename Utah Beach, is located in the town of Sainte-Marie-du-Mont, 5 kms from the town.
It was here that the 8th regiment of General Barton's 4th Division, supported by amphibious tanks, landed at 6:30 am.The Utah Beach area is located at the extreme west of the Allied Operations Zone and encompasses the coastal area of the Channel Department from St Germain de Varreville to the left bank of the Vire estuary.
