Sword Beach
Sword Beach was one of the 5 beaches of the allied landing in Normandy on June 6, 1944 during the Second World War.This beach was attributed to the Second British Army.
This beach stretches 8 km from Ouistreham to Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer. It was the eastern landing point and located about 15 km from Caen.
Lord Lovat's 1st Special Brigade, (including Commando No. 4, including the 177 French fusiliers of Commander Philippe Kieffer) after taking Ouistreham after deadly street fights, reached the bridges at Bénouville And Ranville and thus operated the junction with the paratroopers.
