Omaha Beach
It is also called "Bloody Omaha", "Omaha the Bloody". Among the landing beaches (Omaha, Utah, Sword, Juno and Gold), Omaha Beach is the one where the assault was the most deadly.
This area is devoted to the 5th General Army of General Gerow. It is located between Utah Beach and Gold Beach.
The beach, 6 km long, is riddled with mined obstacles, piles and steel hedgehogs. Behind the dyke, numerous landmarks and minefields block the access roads.
